Jacob and his companion. He said that he left to go home at 3:00 am this morning. It was very hard for him to say goodbye!

Had to wait until Wednesday, to hear from our Missionary this week, but it was worth it!!

So yes! It is very cold out here!! We got 4 inches of snow in one night and it shut everything down! So yeah I am actually helping the assistants. It has been so hectic! Ill start with Sunday! So one of the assistants is really sick so President Baker didn't want him to help with transfers. Since I live with them and my companion is going home ( is actually home now) I got asked to help. So I am an assistant for this week. Monday, I stayed with the sick assistant and at 1 we went to the mission office, form here I rode with President and Sister Baker to their home. We waited for all of he departing missionaries to come and ate dinner and had a really spiritual testimony meeting. The snow had gotten bad, so we came back to my apartment and yesterday I went out and street contacted. We saw so many miracles!! We also found 3 new families!! We then went back to the mission home and ate dinner again then we drove them to the hotel. We woke up at 3 this morning to see my companion leave the hotel, he had an earlier flight. It was really emotional... I just got done with the best transfer I have had and he made a huge impact on me. We went back upstairs and laid back down. We then got up at 6 and got ready and drove the rest to the airport. It was really weird dad! I never thought I would be back in that airport till  cam home. There was such a great feeling in the airport and once they went through security I just had an empty feeling. So in about 30 min I will get o drive for the first time in 6months and guess what!!! I wont have a companion in the car with me. I am driving the truck and trailer and Elder Tucker one of the assistants is driving the van. It is going to be so weird. We are going to pick up the new missionaries and go do some trainings with them. Which brings it up... I am training!! I am also the new district leader!! I am super nervous! Everyone is telling me that this time as an assistant is just a practice that I will be doing it for good soon. I just laugh it off, but honestly I love it!! I have never been so busy in my life and I can just feel the love Heavenly Father has for me so much right now! Well I better write mom! I love you dad!!! :)

October 6, 2012

This week was a really good week here in the Poquoson area. Tuesday we had the opportunity to go and watch the Meet the Mormons movie at the stake center. It is a really good movie and is very inspirational. I give it 10 stars, if y'all have the opportunity to see it i suggest you do. I then got to go on exchanges with Elder Brown in Yorktown. That evening was a good one. We went to a bible study at a less actives house. It was interesting to hear the different versions of the bible. Even though they would not allow us to teach anything, I was glad to see so many people trying to draw nearer to Heavenly Father. The next day we went and read out of the Book of Mormon with those less actives and they really seemed to enjoy that. We also did the same thing with another one of their investigators there. He was a funny guy and kept asking me where my cowboy hat and boots were, since I'm from Wyoming. We went and taught a guy over in a town called Sea ford about the plan of salvation. It was cool because my companion and I actually got a ride from him a few weeks back. We actually told the Yorktown elders about him. He was an interesting fellow but really seemed to love to learn. Thursday we finalized the baptism for another one of our investigators here. I'm really excited to see her make this step in her life. I can see how her faith and testimony has grown over the past few weeks. Friday we had a super long Zone meeting which basically took all day. The focus was on prayer. After that I recommitted myself to having more sincere prayers. I want to challenge you all to read the first presidency message in this months ensign and then recommit yourselves as well. Saturday we got to teach a lesson really early. I could see that this investigators faith was growing during the lesson. He was really excited about the fact his family could be eternal. He is reading the Book of Mormon and said he would be an idiot if he didn't get baptized. I really pray that he finds the message is true. Conference as a missionary is got to be the best thing ever!! I really love the talk about " Which way do we face?" It really made me think about that question and my desire to be a better example and follower of Christ has grown. I hope y'all received your own personal revelation from listening to our prophets of God. I know that they are called of God, and that they hold the keys to lead our church. I know that as we pray, study, and "hold on with both hands", it will be easier to " stay in the boat" I want to hear all of your thoughts about conference. What was your favorite talk? Do you have a desire to share it with a friend? I hope y'all are doing well and I pray you are. Love you all and thank you for the support. See y'all next week.

We havent been able to go back and talk to him yet. Every time we call his wife tells us no. So we met a lady the other day, well actually she is a less active member, but she reminded me so much of grandma winstead. She looked so much like her. She even grew up in mississippi. I love all of the southern accents here. It makes me think of you daily, i do that anyways but still. I really havent eaten very much southern food. Hopefully ill get to go to NC and eat more there. The members do feed us a lot here. I have eaten a lot of sweet potatoes since i have been here. I have grown to like them :)  Hey you know what i would love? some cds like hyms, piano guys, or vocal point or even all. We sing every morning but the cd with hyms is my companions and i would like my own :):) I love to think that as well. I feel like Grandpa is walking with me everyday. The other day i swore i saw grandpa ken. I almost started crying. How did the lesson go out of PMG? Hope it went well. I love you mom :)
By the request of my sister Samantha, I will tell yall more about what happened this last week. We have been striving to have a member present with us at every lesson. This last week we had 2 lessons with a member present. One of the cool opportunities we had was to set up another baptism date for another investigator. It is set up for the 11th of October. Its so amazing to see the desire they have to make this step in their life. We also got to go see a recent convert/recent move in. We have been focusing a lot on less actives and recent converts, using them as finding opportunities. This one couple we visited, she has been a member for 3 years, and he has been one for a little less than a year. They told us their stories and how they have been through so much. They told us that their faith had been tried. But, they still have that faith and they recognize that the Lord has a plan for all of us. While they were telling us this i thought of a quote from President Monson. "If the way be full of trial, Weary not!........... Jesus never will forsake us, Weary not!"
I almost started crying when i thought of this. How great is that love that our Father in Heaven has for us. He knows us, he knows our struggles, he knows our strengths and weakness. I know that he puts us through trials so our faith can grow. I know that if we endure them with patience, we show our love for him in return. I know He will never forsake us. That night with those members will forever be with me. What a great example of enduring to the end, what a great example of being " steadfast and immovable". I know that our Redeemer lives and that he died for all of us that we may live again also. I pray for all of you that you too can press forward with faith and have patience in your trials. I know that Heavenly Father will bless you. I love you all and pray you are all doing well. Have a great week and "God be with you till we meet again"
