October 6, 2012
This week was a really good week here in the Poquoson area. Tuesday we
had the opportunity to go and watch the Meet the Mormons movie at the
stake center. It is a really good movie and is very inspirational. I
give it 10 stars, if y'all have the opportunity to see it i suggest you
do. I then got to go on exchanges with Elder Brown in Yorktown. That
evening was a good one. We went to a bible study at a less actives
house. It was interesting to hear the different versions of the bible.
Even though they would not allow us to teach anything, I was glad to see
so many people trying to draw nearer to Heavenly Father. The next day
we went and read out of the Book of Mormon with those less actives and
they really seemed to enjoy that. We also did the same thing with
another one of their investigators there. He was a funny guy and kept
asking me where my cowboy hat and boots were, since I'm from Wyoming. We
went and taught a guy over in a town called Sea ford about the plan of
salvation. It was cool because my companion and I actually got a ride
from him a few weeks back. We actually told the Yorktown elders about
him. He was an interesting fellow but really seemed to love to learn.
Thursday we finalized the baptism for another one of our investigators
here. I'm really excited to see her make this step in her life. I can see
how her faith and testimony has grown over the past few weeks. Friday
we had a super long Zone meeting which basically took all day. The focus
was on prayer. After that I recommitted myself to having more sincere
prayers. I want to challenge you all to read the first presidency
message in this months ensign and then recommit yourselves as well.
Saturday we got to teach a lesson really early. I could see that this
investigators faith was growing during the lesson. He was really excited
about the fact his family could be eternal. He is reading the Book of
Mormon and said he would be an idiot if he didn't get baptized. I really
pray that he finds the message is true. Conference as a missionary is
got to be the best thing ever!! I really love the talk about " Which way
do we face?" It really made me think about that question and my desire
to be a better example and follower of Christ has grown. I hope y'all
received your own personal revelation from listening to our prophets of
God. I know that they are called of God, and that they hold the keys to
lead our church. I know that as we pray, study, and "hold on with both
hands", it will be easier to " stay in the boat" I want to hear all of
your thoughts about conference. What was your favorite talk? Do you have
a desire to share it with a friend? I hope y'all are doing well and I
pray you are. Love you all and thank you for the support. See y'all next
week.

We havent been able to go back and talk to him yet. Every time we call
his wife tells us no. So we met a lady the other day, well actually she
is a less active member, but she reminded me so much of grandma
winstead. She looked so much like her. She even grew up in mississippi. I
love all of the southern accents here. It makes me think of you daily, i
do that anyways but still. I really havent eaten very much southern
food. Hopefully ill get to go to NC and eat more there. The members do
feed us a lot here. I have eaten a lot of sweet potatoes since i have
been here. I have grown to like them :) Hey you know what i would love?
some cds like hyms, piano guys, or vocal point or even all. We sing
every morning but the cd with hyms is my companions and i would like my
own :):) I love to think that as well. I feel like Grandpa is walking
with me everyday. The other day i swore i saw grandpa ken. I almost
started crying. How did the lesson go out of PMG? Hope it went well. I
love you mom :)
By
the request of my sister Samantha, I will tell yall more about what
happened this last week. We have been striving to have a member present
with us at every lesson. This last week we had 2 lessons with a member
present. One of the cool opportunities we had was to set up another
baptism date for another investigator. It is set up for the 11th of
October. Its so amazing to see the desire they have to make this step in
their life. We also got to go see a recent convert/recent move in. We
have been focusing a lot on less actives and recent converts, using them
as finding opportunities. This one couple we visited, she has been a
member for 3 years, and he has been one for a little less than a year.
They told us their stories and how they have been through so much. They
told us that their faith had been tried. But, they still have that faith
and they recognize that the Lord has a plan for all of us. While they
were telling us this i thought of a quote from President Monson. "If the
way be full of trial, Weary not!........... Jesus never will forsake
us, Weary not!"
I almost started crying when i thought of
this. How great is that love that our Father in Heaven has for us. He
knows us, he knows our struggles, he knows our strengths and weakness. I
know that he puts us through trials so our faith can grow. I know that
if we endure them with patience, we show our love for him in return. I
know He will never forsake us. That night with those members will
forever be with me. What a great example of enduring to the end, what a
great example of being " steadfast and immovable". I know that our
Redeemer lives and that he died for all of us that we may live again
also. I pray for all of you that you too can press forward with faith
and have patience in your trials. I know that Heavenly Father will bless
you. I love you all and pray you are all doing well. Have a great week
and "God be with you till we meet again"Monday, September 22, 2014
Dear Mom,
That
is so cool about Cory! How did your lesson go? And yes I got the
package and I loved it!! Thank you for all of the pictures! I hung them
up right away. I look at them every night before I go sleep. I am
getting over my cold. Finally!!!!!!! I hope you enjoy studying preach my
gospel. I know that It will truly bless your life as you use the
principles it teaches in your own missionary experiences. I studied
Christ like attributes all week out of it. As I was studying charity I
couldn't help but think of Ian. His example to all of us how to love
someone like Christ does is truly wonderful. Thank you for all of the
support and love and letters and candy and ramen you have sent me. I
love it and I know by me serving you will be blessed as well. Love you
Mom
Elder Bullinger
This week we had Zone conference in Virginia Beach. We learned a lot
about how to manage stress and how to face challenges " with out doubt
or fear" It was great to hear the testimonies of other missionaries in
the mission. We also had the opportunity to go to the family history
center this week. It helped me understand the great importance of doing
that work. " We can not become perfect without our dead; nor they
without us" I would challenge all of you to use the resources the church
provides us to do this work. It is as much of a missionary work as what
I am doing. I pray for all of you to find the joy in this work that I
know it can bring yall. We go out and talk to people everyday, and even
if they don't except our words I know that the seed has been planted. I
know that the spirit will testify to them that what we teach is true. I
want to share a few scriptures with you and challenge you to have your
own missionary experiences. ALma 13:24-25. 24 For behold, aangels
are declaring it unto many at this time in our land; and this is for
the purpose of preparing the hearts of the children of men to receive
his word at the time of his coming in his glory.
25
And now we only wait to hear the joyful news declared unto us by the
mouth of angels, of his coming; for the time cometh, we aknow not how soon. Would to God that it might be in my day; but let it be sooner or later, in it I will rejoice.
I
know that it is our purpose to preach to those who don't have this
gospel in their lives. I know that the Lord will send angels to walk
with us each day as we do spread the gospel. As we do share our message I
know it will bless them. Share it with faith, share it with hope, and
share it with charity. Be like Lehi and be desirous for others to
partake of this fruit. I love you all and I pray for you all I know with
prayer and strength from the Lord we can do all things. Have a great
week yall.

Dear Family and Friends,
This
week I struggled with a little bit of homesickness. I miss all of you
but I know you all will be taken care of by our Father in Heaven. Well
ill answer a lot of the questions you all have had. The area here is one
of the wealthiest in the country. Its a lot of military people. Not a
day goes by that we don't talk to someone that isn't now or was serving
our country. Its cool to hear some of the stories from the retired
service men. We share a car with the sister in our area, so we switch
off every week. When we don't have a car we are walking of riding bikes.
Elder Horrocks has dragged me all over our area, so im getting to know
it pretty well. This week we taught a man named James. He has struggled a
lot lately with his faith but knows God has blessed his life. We
committed him to read from the Book of Mormon and pray about it. We
asked him that when he finds out it is true if he would follow the
example of Jesus Christ and be baptized. He said he would love to. He
even has been talking with his neighbors about miss conceptions about
the church. Its so wonderful to see the gospel changing his life. We
will meet with him hopefully twice this week. I look forward to hearing
from you all and pray for yall every day and night. I pray that you will
recognize the lord in your life. Pray always and study your scriptures
and you will always have the spirit with you.

I
arrived to the mission field this last week. We got in about 5 in the
afternoon and President and Sister Baker picked us up from the airport
in Norfolk. We went to a church building near by to have dinner and do
interviews and a little bit of training.
They
put us up in a hotel that night and I slept better than I had in weeks.
The next day we traveled to the mission office to get our assignments
and our trainers. I have been assigned to serve in the Newport News
South Zone, The Poquoson "A" are and I'm in the Poquoson ward. My
trainer is Elder Horrocks from Draper, Utah. He also has all sisters!!
Anyways, we then traveled to our apartment. That night we had a
discussion with a man named Earnest. He is really interested in the
gospel and we will meet with him again this coming Thursday. We have
been riding bikes a lot and it has been warm and very humid. We went
tracting on a road called Carys Chapel and only got one contact out of
probably 25 houses we knocked. The city we live in is actually Yorktown
and has a major highway running through it that we have to ride bikes
down everyday. We have been working with a lot of less active members or
inactive members. I truly do love this work and love the members and
people here. Everyone we talk to always says " Bless You" or " I love
Jesus" The people here really need the gospel and I know it could truly
bless their lives. That's all for this week. Love you all and hope yall
have great week. Thanks for the support.
